I just read your post about not wanting to be selling yourself and just wanting to go play with children in Harlem and Africa. Boy! can I relate. I am the founder of the International Association for Child Aid Organizations and we are just getting started in India. Thats where I have roamed, played, worked and lived at different times over the past 42 years. Since the concept of the IACAO became a working reality I have been spending untold hours at my desk writing memos, filling out government applications, talking to lawyers, developing contacts and recruiting participants for our pilot program to begin in Bangalore later this year, I'll bet you can relate. And what I really want to do is return to India and to my work with her incredibly inflicted children. I guess it is part of the price we pay for the privilege to be of service to those of our brothers and sisters in need.

Love this post! Very well written and emotional. Its terrible what is happening in the DRC and its even more sad that it has been going on so long with no meaningful international intervention. The Rwandan genocide is still happening with no end in sight! Thanks for spreading the word about fistula.

Lysa, I have been reading your daily entries, and each time before I know it is happening I am sobbing.....with love and pride for what you are doing, and with fear that something will not go right. I love you so dearly.....Jerrie

My name is Chelsy. I live in the US. I just stumbled upon your website while i was on SocialVibe. I instantly fell in love with what you are doing. I cried like a baby while i watched the picture slide show from Congo. Its ironic because today in school i was talking with my English teacher telling her that when i get out of high school i want to travel to places like Congo and do what i can to help poverty stricken places and the people who live there. I would love to do exactly what you do. To me, this is the most amazing thing that any human being could do. I believe being selfless is key. Back to my point, as i said i would love to do what you do. Since I'm still a sophmore in high school, I'm wondering what i could do to help right now. I'm thinking that i could somehow raise money through my high school. Maybe i could lead a fundraiser or plan a school event to raise money. I could make a video to play on our schools morning announcements, or i could use your Congo picture slide show. I could hang posters around my school with this web address on it to get people interested in the fundraiser i could lead. I would greatly appreciate if you would E-mail me and tell me what you think. This is such a great cause and something i am very passionate about. I definitely want to help in ANY way that i can.

Thank you for your time,
PEACE & LOVE,

Hi Lysa, I love your enthusiasm for the cause you support and all you do with your organization is wonderful. I use to work as a volunteer in a small organization in Spain to help children and it was a great experience. A while ago, a friend introduced me to what you're doing and this is truly amazing. I think we should all get involved in something and do our best to help other people, women and children. Your commitment is examplary!

I'm always impressed by people choosing to commit and being true about it. Back when I was a volunteer, our organization had the support of Max Dana, a French designer/writer who helped us spread the word about our actions. Her help was so helpful, she really made the kids happy... So I know true commitments, like yours or hers, can achieve great things. I'm not in touch with her anymore as I don't work for the organization anymore, but I keep following what she does, and she's still supporting organizations and events for Human Rights, Darfur, Africa and children. That's her blog: http://blog.maxdana.com.
Darfur: http://blog.maxdana.com/tag/darfur/
Human Rights: http://blog.maxdana.com/worksprojects/every-human-has-rights-60-signers-for-the-60th-anniversary/

I hope my comment was 'useful' (I don't comment a lot) but it was the opportunity for me to tell you all the good I think of you. Thanks again for everything you do, you're inspiring to me and to many others.
